OFFcity

2022 / Publication

Publication of research results, theoretical contextualisiation and collection of interdisciplinary reference projects (Corentin Darrée, Nathalie Harb, Kristine Hymøller,...) in the form of a magazine. The research project OFF city was funded by a Schütte-Lihotzky-scholarship granted by the Austrian Ministry of Arts and Culture. The research and writing was supported through residencies at Cité des Arts and ZK/U - Center for Arts and Urbanistics in Berlin in 2021. The development of the magazine followed in 2022 and the publication will take place in 2023.

The OFF is examined as a specific quality for existing and future urban structures. The OFF city is the contrasting complement to the SMART city, the efficiency-oriented, economised and digitalised city. OFF places condense the

narrative of the city, elude “surveillance capitalism” and offer enabling spaces as a breeding ground for the irrational and the most diverse and inclusive urban

habitat possible.
